What is Hospice Care?
Frequently Asked Questions
When it comes to selecting a hospice agency, we know that you have many questions. We’re here to help.
Who pays for hospice care?
Most patients are eligible for the Medicare Hospice Benefit, which covers up to 100% of hospice services. Medicaid and most private insurances also include a hospice benefit. Speak with our team to learn more and receive personalized information.
How does hospice care work?
A patient, their family member, or a healthcare professional can request or recommend hospice care for a person whom is facing a life-limiting illness. Hospice care can help a person spend the rest of their life at home, where ever home may be, with the support they want or need. Members of the hospice team visit regularly to assess the patient and provide care or other services. The hospice team develops a plan of care that meets each patient’s individual needs for pain management and symptom control. Support is also provided for the patient’s family throughout the care period. While the range of services provided will vary depending on each individual situation and the specific needs, hospice staff are available by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
